Here in the U.S. Labor Day is a week in the past and that signals the end of summer. For some of us, like me, who live at the beach it’s a time of some sadness that another beach season is coming to a close. (Don’t cry for me…I own a wetsuit and swim through December some years!) But for many, they’re glad that the heat is going to leave and the fall will bring easier weather.
For those of us in sales NOW is the time to take advantage of this time of year. NOW is the time to contact every prospect that’s been telling you, “Call me after the summer is over.” Now is the time to connect with clients and help them invest in more of your product or service.
As some who offers sales training programs and sales manager training I get to interact with lots of sales professionals on a daily basis. I find that salespeople tend to believe there’s always “plenty of time” but the fact is you now have a brief window of 10-12 weeks when you can bring home the bacon. NOW is when you need to double your efforts and take advantage of people being in “back to work” mode. The holidays will be on us much quicker than you think. November feels a long way off but I promise, soon you’ll be looking at Thanksgiving followed closely by Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa or whatever holiday you celebrate at the end of the year. Can you do business after Thanksgiving? OF COURSE you can, but we all know (in the “real” world), that people start telling you to “get in touch after New Year’s” right after Thanksgiving.
Take advantage of this season and do whatever it takes to achieve, and exceed, your goals so that you end 2013 with the financial rewards you know you’re capable of!
